Converting images from one format to another

Choose your images, say what format you want them in and take them back converted, free and with no sign-up

Memory cards and USB sticks lying next to a computer
Drop your images here, or click to choose them JPG, PNG, WEBP, GIF, SVG and BMP, all at once if you like
The file name stays the one it had, only the extension changes

The images never leave your computer, the browser does the converting, we see nothing

This page converts what the browser already knows how to open on its own: JPG, PNG, WEBP, GIF, SVG and BMP. It does the work, on your computer, so it goes exactly as far as the browser goes and not a step further.

HEIC, the iPhone photos: they work if you open this page from an iPhone or from a Mac with Safari, because there it is the system that already knows how to read them. On Windows or on Chrome they don’t, and to make them work anyway we would have to make every visitor download a few megabytes of library, which for a free page doesn’t seem honest to us.

RAW (.cr2 .nef .arw .dng), PSD and TIFF: they can’t be done in the browser, and we’re not going to talk around it.

If HEIC, RAW, PSD or TIFF are exactly what you need, write to us and we will pass you the desktop program that does them all, without going through this page.

Animated GIFs: only the first frame is taken, the animation is lost along the way.

Converting to JPG turns transparency white, because jpg has never heard of it. If you need to keep it, choose PNG or WEBP.

What people usually ask us

No, the conversion happens inside your browser, on your computer, the images never travel to any server and we never see them, you can unplug the internet after opening the page and the tool keeps working all the same, it’s the simplest test you can run
Because this page converts what the browser already knows how to open on its own, and the browser is the one on your computer, not a server of ours; the HEIC files from an iPhone open if you visit this page from an iPhone or from a Mac with Safari, because there it is the system that can read them, on Windows or on Chrome they don’t, and to make them work anyway we would have to make every visitor download a few megabytes of library, which for a free page doesn’t seem honest to us; RAW files from a camera, PSD and TIFF can’t be done in the browser, and we’re not going to talk around it, if those are exactly what you need write to us and we’ll pass you the desktop program that does them all
If you convert to JPG the transparency turns white, because jpg has no idea what a transparent pixel is and something has to go underneath, if you need to keep the background transparent choose PNG or WEBP, which both preserve it
Yes, throw them all in at once and we convert them one after the other, each one keeps its name and only the extension changes, there is no limit from us, the real one is your computer’s memory, a few dozen photos are no trouble, five hundred twenty-megapixel shots slow the browser down; when more than one file is ready we list them and you download them yourself, because a browser reads ten downloads in a row as spam
It’s free and there is no sign-up, we don’t ask for your email and we don’t set a daily limit on files, the tool is an example of what we do for a living, if you then have repetitive work to automate in your company we can talk about it, otherwise just use it

The other free tools

All in the browser, all with no sign-up, your files go nowhere

If you convert them by hand every day, the work is not the converting

Changing the format of three photos takes a minute. But if every week someone takes the suppliers’ photos, renames them, converts them and uploads them to the site or to the business software, that is a process, and it can be automated
